So after shooting Janet and Brandon’s wedding on Saturday which got over at about 4:30 for me, I decided to call my good friend Arnoldo. He had asked me to photograph their biggest homecoming of the year after the awesome pix I shot at Hardee’s HC dance! I expected the wedding to go longer. The dance was in New Port Richey about a two hour drive from my house. So I changed clothes real quick and downloaded all my cards from the wedding and made a backup of them and headed out. I made pretty good time. But when I got there the back gate was locked, so after a little curb hopping and getting stopped by a rent a cop I finally arrived!
I set up my lights and started popping off shots! I also got to try out my new camera low light video capability and while I’m no videographer but I think the video rocks! It’s a bit noisy but keep in mind that it was shot in complete darkness! Click here to check out Arnoldo’s post!
I had a busy weekend, and I finally picked out my favorites from Janet & Brandon’s Wedding. Janet booked me almost a year ago, she and I went to High School together and she wanted her pictures to be something special! So after talking back and forth a few times on Facebook she booked me for her special day!
I had a blast! The ceremony took place at North Side Baptist Church in Wauchula. The reception followed at the Zolfo Springs Civic Center. On the way to the reception I suggested that we stop at Heritige Park in Downtown Main Street. This is where I got the money shot of the day about 3/4 of the way down on this post is my absolute favorite pic not just of this wedding but in the last several weddings! It’s the one with them up against the brick, and in case your wondering that is Giovanis brick wall.
Be sure to leave me some comment love!
Ok I know what your thinking, don’t you post your blog the night of the wedding? Yes, normally but I was so sick and extremely tired! And I didn’t order event cards for this wedding so no one was really waiting for this post. Anyway this wedding was a lot of fun! All the decorations and flowers were done by Wauchula Weddings. This wedding came out on top despite the power going for about 20-30 min and then the generators kicked and didn’t power the AC! Anyway check out the pix below and feel free to leave me some comment love!
Just a quick side note the third photo from the top I used spot color which is a departure from my usual style, because the lights in the front were different then the rest of the church so I couldn’t balance the photo as a whole without ending up with a blue color cast, so I was playing around with it and I actually like it! This is only the second photo which I have used spot color the first was Tanna’s maternity shoot. I don’t normally use it because I think it is a fad that will eventually make the image look dated like the double exposures of the mid to late 70s.
Ok if you missed the show, you really missed out! There was tons of great prizes being awarded, plenty of swag, lots of great vendors, and not to mention the food! I had a very nice couple talk to me about shooting there wedding at the beginning of the show, towards the end they came back to tell me that they would be giving me a call as they liked my work and my price was fair. Now a lady was there representing Sandals giving away a free, all inclusive trip to a Sandals resort in the Bahamas, and wouldn’t you know it the couple that had just spoken to me won!!! I had never seen anyone so excited to win something ever! They started jumping up and down and dancing! They totally deserved to win and I am very happy for them!
I worked very hard on my booth! I did have some help from my personal decorator! I probably talked to at least 50 brides, saw a few familiar faces and made some new friends. I look forward to next year! Make sure you mark it on your calendar.
